Tiled Paint Rendering

Tiled Paint is a TatukGIS rendering feature recently introduced in DK v92.0 and Editor v.5.76. Presently available only in the DK for Delphi edition (VCL and FMX), this feature will soon become available also in DK product editions for other development platforms.

In summary, Tiled Paint divides a map project into sections that are rendered into tiles, with each tile having its own thread (i.e., multithreaded rendering). The tiles are rendered in the background, delivering a smooth panning (dragging) and zooming experience even while the map is still being rendered, that can make the user experience seem more responsive and faster. The result is a Google Maps-like user experience.

Advantages of Tiled Paint rendering tend to be more noticeable with more complicated GIS projects involving more layers and larger datasets. The Tiled Paint feature can be turned on/off via the Tools/Options menu.

The following video presents a comparative rendering example, with and without Tiled Paint enabled.
